Notes

  • Storage. To store leftovers of vegan french toast, place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. You can store them in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • Reheating. To reheat the leftovers, you can either warm them in the oven or choose to heat them in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If you are using the oven, preheat it to 350°F (175°C) and place the french toast on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for about ten minutes or until heated through. If you are using a skillet, then add a little vegan butter or coconut oil to the pan and heat the french toast for a few minutes on each side until warm.
  • Freezing. Unfortunately, this vegan french toast cannot be frozen as it can alter the texture and make the toast soggy when thawed and reheated. It is best to enjoy this recipe fresh or store the leftovers in the refrigerator for a short period of time.
  • Make sure to use a shallow dish that is wide enough to dip the bread slices in the almond milk mixture.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or griddle to prevent the French toast from sticking to the surface.
  • Be sure to cook the French toast on medium-high heat to ensure that it cooks evenly and doesn't burn.
  • If the skillet or griddle becomes too dry, add more vegan butter or coconut oil as needed.
  • If you don't have cornstarch, you can use arrowroot powder or potato starch as a thickener.
  • For a different flavor profile, you can substitute the vanilla extract with almond extract or coconut extract.
