Vietnamese Dipping Sauce (Nuoc Cham)

Nuoc Cham is a Vietnamese dipping sauce that is salty, sweet and sour. It's an all-purpose condiment made with fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, garlic and chilies. Serve it on rice vermicelli noodle (bun) bowls, and fresh spring rolls (goi cuon).

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon hot water
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon high-quality fish sauce I used Red Boat
  • 2 tablespoon cool/room temperature water
  • ½ lime freshly squeezed
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 red Thai chili minced

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a small bowl, combine together hot water and sugar.
  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add in fish sauce, cool/room temperature water and lime juice.
  4. Next, add in the garlic and Thai chili.
  5. Adjust seasoning to your taste.
