Vodka Sauce

This homemade Vodka Sauce recipe is so easy and full of flavor. Creamy Italian tomato sauce with heavy cream, vodka, canned tomatoes, and red pepper flakes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter unsalted
  • 1 yellow onion , chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper coarse ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes crushed
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 56 ounces crushed tomatoes canned
  • 2 cups heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in dutch oven on medium heat with onions, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes on medium heat.
  2. Cook for 6-8 minutes until onions just start to caramelize.
  3. Add in vodka and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Add in the crushed tomatoes and stir well until butter is mixed in.
  5. Bring to a boil on high heat then reduce back to medium heat and cook for 30 minutes.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and cook an additional 30 minutes.
