Waldorf Salad Recipe
The Waldorf Salad Recipe features a fresh mix of crisp apples, celery, grapes, toasted walnuts, and raisins combined with a creamy dressing made from mayonnaise, yogurt, lemon juice, and seasonings. This classic salad contrasts sweet fruit with crunchy nuts and a tangy dressing, making it a refreshing and textured side that pairs nicely with a variety of meals especially in warmer months or festive occasions.
Ingredients
- For the dressing:
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons yogurt plain full fat
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- FOR THE SALAD:
- 2 cups apple cored and diced, firm red skinned
- 1 cup grape halved, red, seedless
- 1 cup celery sliced
- 3/4 cup walnuts toast them on a lined baking sheet in the oven at 375F until their color slightly darkens, then let cool completely, toasted, chopped
- 3 tablespoons raisins (can also use dried cherries or cranberries)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients. In a large mixing bowl add all of the salad ingredients. Pour over the dressing and stir to thoroughly combine. Serve immediately, otherwise cover and refrigerate.
Notes
- For a lower-calorie dressing, substitute light mayonnaise and low-fat yogurt, and use a sugar alternative like stevia.
