Watermelon Water (Agua de Sandia)
Watermelon Water, or Agua de Sandia, is a refreshing beverage made by blending seedless watermelon chunks with cold water, lime juice, and sugar. It is served chilled over ice and often garnished with mint, lime slices, or edible flowers, offering a light, mildly sweet drink with a subtle citrus accent suitable for warm weather.
Ingredients
- 8 cups watermelon cut into chunks, seedless
- 4 cups water cold
- lime juice juice of 2 limes
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar or to taste (start with 2 tbsp if you don't like sweet drinks)
- ice
- watermelon for garnish, optional, frozen, cubed
- Edible Flowers lime slices, mint, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the chunks of watermelon and cold water in a large, powerful blender. Blend on high until the watermelon is completely pureed.
- Add in sugar, pulse on high. Taste, and add more sugar if necessary.
- Optional: strain the watermelon juice through a mesh sieve if you want it to be completely smooth without pulp.
- Serve chilled over ice. Garnish with mint, lime slices, and edible flowers.
Notes
- Store Agua de Sandia refrigerated in an airtight container and consume within 3 to 4 days for best freshness.
- Before serving, stir well to redistribute any settled ingredients.
- Freezing is possible for longer storage; thaw in the refrigerator and mix before use.
- Frozen watermelon water can be repurposed as ice cubes or popsicles, though texture may change.
