Watermelon Water (Agua de Sandia)

Watermelon Water, or Agua de Sandia, is a refreshing beverage made by blending seedless watermelon chunks with cold water, lime juice, and sugar. It is served chilled over ice and often garnished with mint, lime slices, or edible flowers, offering a light, mildly sweet drink with a subtle citrus accent suitable for warm weather.

Description

To prepare Watermelon Water, fresh seedless watermelon chunks are combined with cold water and blended until smooth. Sugar is added to adjust sweetness according to taste, with the option to strain the mixture through a sieve for a pulp-free texture. Lime juice lends a bright, tangy note that complements the natural sweetness of the watermelon. The drink is served over ice and garnished with ingredients like mint, lime slices, and edible flowers for presentation and extra freshness.

The beverage highlights the juicy, slightly grainy texture of blended watermelon, balanced by acidity and subtle sweetness. It is an ideal thirst-quencher in hot weather or alongside light meals. Its mild flavor and natural ingredients make it a popular choice for a non-alcoholic refreshment.

Watermelon Water should be stored chilled in an airtight container and consumed within 3 to 4 days. It can also be frozen for longer storage; thaw in the refrigerator and stir before serving. Frozen varieties can be used to make ice cubes or popsicles, though some texture and flavor changes may occur after freezing.
