Wendy’s Chili
Wendy’s Chili is a hearty, savory chili featuring ground beef simmered with tomato juice, tomato puree, and a blend of beans and vegetables. The mix of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and other seasonings creates a balanced and mildly spiced flavor. Slow simmering deepens taste and thickens the chili, resulting in a classic, comforting dish.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef fresh
- 1 quart tomato juice
- 29 ounces tomato puree canned
- 15 ounces red kidney beans drained, canned
- 15 ounces pinto beans drained, canned
- 1 large onion chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1/2 cup celery diced
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper diced
- 1/4 cup chili powder you may want to use less, as some people find this is too much
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain the grease.
- Put the drained beef and the remaining ingredients in a 6-quart pot or slow cooker and stir to combine.
- If using a pot, cover and simmer for at least 45 minutes. If you have time, I recomment to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes, for the best flavor.
- If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 4 hours.
