White Christmas Sangria
This White Christmas Sangria combines white wine with sparkling apple cider, fresh cranberries, sliced green apple and pear, enhanced with rosemary and star anise for aromatic complexity. Chilling the mixture allows flavors to meld, resulting in a festive, fruity drink with a light effervescence from the cider. It’s refreshing and appropriate for holiday gatherings or casual entertaining.
Ingredients
- 1 ml white wine bottle of
- 1 cup sparkling apple cider plus more for topping off
- 2 cups cranberries fresh
- 1 green apple sliced
- 1 pear sliced, green variety
- rosemary for garnishing, sprigs
- star anise for garnishing, sprigs
Instructions
- Thinly slice the apple and pear. You can use a knife or mandoline. Then pour the wine, sparkling apple cider, cranberries, apple slices, and pear slices into a large pitcher. You can layer them or simply mix them all in. Refrigerate the sangria for at least 4 hours, or overnight to let the flavors meld together.
- Serve the sangria in individual glasses over ice and top off with fresh sparkling apple cider.
- Garnish with rosemary sprigs, and star anise before serving.
Notes
- Sparkling apple cider provides sufficient sweetness; added sweeteners are optional based on taste.
- Refrigerate the sangria for several hours or overnight to develop the flavors.
- Serve over ice and top with extra sparkling cider for added fizz.
