Wonton Apple Pies
Description
Wonton Apple Pies creatively use wonton wrappers as a quick and crisp crust alternative for small, individual apple pies. By baking two wonton wrappers in muffin tins sprayed with oil, a sturdy and crispy cup is formed. The apple filling is prepared by simmering diced Ambrosia apples with butter, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and a small amount of water until the fruit softens and the mixture thickens into a syrupy consistency. After cooling slightly, the filling is spooned into the baked wonton cups, which can be served warm or at room temperature.
The contrast between the flaky, golden wonton cups and the soft, warmly spiced apples highlights a balance of texture and flavor. Optionally, the pies can be topped with ice cream to add creaminess and temperature contrast for a comforting dessert experience.
