Air Fryer Crusty Rolls

Baking bread in your air fryer couldn't be easier. These air fryer crusty rolls are light and fluffy with a crisp crust, these rolls can be baked in 20 minutes and are delicious slathered in butter.

Ingredients

  • 300 ml (1¼ cups) warm water
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 10 g (2 tsp) instant yeast
  • 360 g (3 cups) flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the yeast with the warm water and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer and allow to stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt and oil then knead with the dough hook attachment for a few minutes until the dough is soft, pliable and just ever-so-slightly tacky. If the dough is too sticky, add a few more tablespoons of flour and knead in.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp tea towel then allow to rise in a warm spot for an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Tip the dough onto a floured surface then divide into 8 equal pieces.
  5. Press each dough ball into a rough rectangle then roll into a tight roll.
  6. Line your air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper then add the rolls and allow to proof for another 30 minutes.
  7. Brush with egg wash right before baking.
  8. Place the basket into the air fryer then air fry at 170°C/340°F for 15-20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
