Applesauce Spice Cookies

Applesauce Spice Cookies blend butter and brown sugar with applesauce and spices for a moist, warmly spiced cookie. Rolled oats add texture, while optional pecans and chocolate chips or raisins introduce nutty and sweet notes. These cookies bake to a golden color and have a tender crumb with a balanced spice profile, making them comforting and flavorful.

Description

This recipe creams softened butter with brown sugar, then incorporates egg and applesauce for moisture and sweetness. A dry mix of flour, rolled oats, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice adds structure and warm flavors characteristic of spiced baked goods. Adding chocolate chips or raisins and pecans offers both sweetness and crunch. Spoonfuls of dough are dropped onto prepared baking sheets and baked at 350°F until lightly browned. The result is a cozy cookie with a gentle spice and chewy texture from the oats.

The inclusion of applesauce imparts moisture, keeping the cookie tender without the need for extra fat. Spices complement the applesauce flavor, while add-ins provide variation in each bite. These cookies can be enjoyed as a snack or dessert and suit colder months well with their autumnal spice notes.
