Ingredients
- 1 package (8-10 ounces) refrigerated croissant dough (the kind that comes in a can)
- 8-10 slices ham (or more, depending on your preference)
- 8-10 slices cheese (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or your favorite)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: 1 tablespoon milk or water (for egg wash)
- Optional: Everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to the temperature specified on the croissant dough package (usually around 375°F or 190°C).
- Prepare baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Assemble croissants: Unroll the croissant dough and separate the triangles.
- Add fillings: Place a slice of cheese and a slice of ham (or more, if desired) on the wider end of each triangle.
- Roll up: Starting at the wide end, roll up each triangle towards the point. Gently curve the ends of the croissants inwards to form a crescent shape.
- Egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg with milk or water (if using). Brush the egg wash over the top of each croissant.
- Add toppings (optional): Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake: Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
- Cool and serve: Let the croissants cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Croissant Dough: Use refrigerated croissant dough for a quick and easy recipe. You can also use frozen croissants, but you'll need to thaw them overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
- Cheese: Use your favorite cheese for this recipe. Swiss, cheddar, provolone, Gruyere, or Monterey Jack are all good choices.
- Ham: You can use any type of ham you like, such as deli ham, Black Forest ham, or honey ham. You can also use other deli meats, such as turkey or roast beef.
- Egg Wash: The egg wash helps the croissants to brown nicely and gives them a glossy finish.
- Baking Time: Baking times may vary slightly depending on your oven and the size of your croissants. Keep an eye on them and remove them when they are golden brown.
