Baked Lemon Fish with Garlic Butter
Description
This recipe features white fish fillets seasoned with salt and pepper, laid over thin lemon slices to impart brightness and acidity during baking. A garlic butter sauce made by melting butter with minced garlic and lemon zest is spooned over the fish, adding richness and aromatic notes. Baking in a preheated 425°F oven for 10-12 minutes gently cooks the fish until it flakes easily, preserving its tender texture.
The garlic butter and lemon together enhance the otherwise mild fish taste, creating balanced and fresh flavors without overpowering it. Sprinkling chopped parsley on top adds a touch of color and subtle herbal freshness.
Baked Lemon Fish with Garlic Butter can be served as a simple, healthy dinner. It pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or light salads for a complete meal. The quick preparation and minimal ingredients make it suitable for everyday cooking or easy entertaining.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 lemon
- 1 ½ lb White fish fillets see notes
- ½ teaspoon salt sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper sea salt
- parsley to serve, minced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Melt the butter in a small frying pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and let it cook for 1 minute. Zest the lemon (preferably with a Microplane) and add it to the butter.
- Thinly slice the zested lemon and place the slices in the bottom of a baking dish. If there are extras, save them for the top of the fish.
- Dry the fish with paper towels, season both sides with salt and pepper, then lay the fish on top of the lemon slices. Spoon or brush the garlic butter over the fish.
- Bake the fish for 10-12 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork. Serve with a little parsley sprinkled over the top for color.
Notes
- White fish can include varieties such as cod, lingcod, grouper, snapper, haddock, or sole; choose based on availability and preference.
