Baked Matcha Doughnuts - Introducing Goen Matcha

These Baked Matcha Doughnuts highlight the subtle bitterness and vibrant green color of Goen matcha powder blended into a tender cake doughnut batter. Baked rather than fried, they have a soft crumb and a delicate sweetness balanced by the earthy matcha flavor. Their moist texture and pleasing aroma come from buttermilk and melted butter mixed into the lightly spiced dough.

Description

The Baked Matcha Doughnuts use plain flour, caster sugar, and matcha powder combined with baking powder and salt as dry ingredients. Wet ingredients include buttermilk, egg, and melted butter, which together create a batter that produces doughnuts with a soft, light crumb. Baking at 350°F for 13–15 minutes allows the doughnuts to rise and set without over-drying.

The batter is spooned about three-quarters full into a doughnut tin to create the classic doughnut shape. Once fully baked and cooled, they exhibit a subtle green hue and a tender texture that contrasts the traditional fried doughnuts.

These doughnuts are ideal for an afternoon treat or tea time, offering a unique twist with the matcha flavor from the Goen brand matcha powder. Their baked preparation makes them accessible to home bakers seeking a less greasy alternative.
