Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
- ½ oz orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
- ¼ oz agave syrup optional, for sweetness
- Salt or sugar for rimming the glass
- lime wedge for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by rimming your glass with salt or sugar. To do this, run a lime wedge around the rim and dip it into salt or sugar.
- In a shaker, combine bourbon, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup (if using).
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness of the drink by adding more or less agave syrup to suit your taste.
- If you prefer a smoother, less tart flavor, use fresh orange juice instead of orange liqueur.
- To make a larger batch, simply multiply the ingredients by the number of servings desired.
- Use a good-quality bourbon for the best flavor in this cocktail.
- This drink is best served fresh, but can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a few hours.
- Experiment with flavored syrups, such as a honey or maple syrup, for a unique twist.
- If you prefer a chilled drink without ice, shake and strain into a chilled glass.
- For a smoky flavor, try using a smoked bourbon or adding a dash of smoked paprika.
