Broccoli Cauliflower Rice

Broccoli Cauliflower Rice combines finely processed cauliflower and broccoli florets baked with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until they begin to brown lightly. This vegetable "rice" mimics the texture of grains while providing a mild, earthy flavor. The baking method gradually dries and roasts the mixture, enhancing its nutty notes and creating a versatile low-carb side.

Description

The Broccoli Cauliflower Rice recipe starts by pulsing cauliflower and broccoli into small, rice-like pieces in a food processor. The mixture is then seasoned with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper before baking on a sheet at a moderate temperature. The baking process is done in stages, stirring occasionally to promote even cooking and golden edges. This method gives the vegetable rice a slightly toasted texture while keeping it tender enough to mimic traditional rice.

The flavor profile is mild and subtly earthy with a hint of garlic, all enhanced by the caramelization from baking. The use of both broccoli and cauliflower adds complexity, with broccoli providing a slightly stronger and greener note. The texture maintains some bite, more delicate than steamed vegetables but less firm than raw.

This vegetable rice works well as a low-carb or vegetable-forward side dish that can accompany a variety of main courses. It can also be flavoured further to fit different cuisines or served as a base for stir-fries or bowls. The recipe is practical for those looking to add vegetable variety without complex preparation.
