Instructions
- Line a 9x9 baking pan with parchment paper or grease the pan with nonstick spray. Set aside.
- Add your butter to a large pot over medium-low heat.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the milk solids in the butter start to turn golden brown.
- Turn the heat to low.
- Mix in 6 cups of the marshmallows and keep stirring until all the marshmallows have melted.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add in the Rice Krispies and the remaining marshmallows, and stir just until the cereal is well coated.
- Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared pan.
- Spray a rubber spatula with nonstick spray and gently press the cereal mixture into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the salt on top.
- Let the Krispie treats cool to room temperature to set up.
- Remove the treats from the pan and cut into squares.
Notes
- Butter: If you like more salty/sweet brown butter flavor, use salted butter in place of the unsalted butter.
- Marshmallows: You could use large marshmallows to melt, but I recommend using mini marshmallows to stir in.
- Vanilla extract: Feel free to adjust the vanilla extract to your tastes. You could also use vanilla bean paste.
- Cereal: You could use a different flavor of Rice Krispies, like Cocoa Krispies, to change up the flavor.
- Sea salt: It's important to use sea salt or finishing salt. Table salt is saltier and may make your treats too salty.
