Butternut Squash Chips

These butternut squash chips are thinly sliced pieces of the squash lightly seasoned with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika, then baked until crispy and lightly browned. They offer a crunchy texture with a mild sweetness and smoky undertones, making a flavorful alternative to traditional chips, especially when paired with a creamy herb dip.

Description

The Butternut Squash Chips recipe begins by slicing butternut squash into very thin rounds about 1/8-inch thick, with the option to remove skins for a smoother texture. The slices are evenly coated with olive oil and seasoned with a blend of sea salts, black pepper, and smoked paprika, which adds depth and a subtle smoky flavor.

Baked at 375°F without overlapping, the chips are flipped midway to promote even crisping and browning. The final texture is crisp and lightly browned on the edges, with a tender center. Cooling on the baking sheet and then on a rack ensures the chips firm up properly.

Serving suggestions include an optional dip made from mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, and fresh chopped herbs, complementing the smoky, salty chips with a creamy and fresh contrast.
