Caramel Apple Crisp
Description
This Apple Crisp starts with peeled, cored, and sliced Granny Smith apples tossed in a mixture of granulated sugar, light brown sugar, flour, and ground cinnamon. A portion of homemade caramel sauce is drizzled onto the apples for extra sweetness and depth. The crisp topping blends flour, light brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and rolled oats, combined with melted unsalted butter to a crumbly texture. This topping is spread evenly over the apple mixture in a buttered 9x13-inch pan.
Baking in a 350°F oven for 50 minutes develops a golden, lightly crunchy topping while the fruit beneath cooks tender and releases juices that mingle with the caramel. Serving warm with additional caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice cream provides a creamy, sweet contrast to the warm, tart apples and crunchy topping.
