  • 24 dinner-sized rolls
  • 3 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 2 9x13-inch baking dishes. Set aside.
  2. Cut the rolls in half horizontally.
  3. Do not separate individual rolls.
  4. Place the bottom half of 12 of the rolls in one baking dish and the bottom half of the other 12 rolls in the second baking pan.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese over bottom half of rolls in one pan. Repeat with 1 cup of cheese in the second pan.
  6. Set aside.
  7. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until no longer pink.
  8. Drain and return to pan.
  9. Add onion, and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until onion has softened.
  10. Stir in tomatoes, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  11. Cook, stirring regularly, for 1 minute.
  12. Remove from heat.
  13. Divide the beef mixture between the rolls in the two pans.
  14. Sprinkle 3/4 cup cheese over rolls in the first pan.
  15. Repeat with remaining 3/4 cup cheese in the second pan.
  16. Place the top halves over the rolls in each pan.
  17. To make the glaze, heat butter, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a microwave-safe bowl for 15 seconds.
  18. Stir.
  19. Continue heating and stirring until the butter has melted and mixture is combined.
  20. Brush half of the glaze over the tops of the rolls in the first pan.
  21. Repeat with the remaining glaze and the remaining half rolls.
  22. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  23. Bake 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.

Notes

  • Dinner rolls: You can use Hawaiian rolls for a sweeter slider. 
  • Cheese: Feel free to use more or less cheese to taste. Also, you can use any variety of shredded cheese you like. 
  • Ground beef: Ground turkey also works well in this recipe.
