Ingredients

Servings
  • cups all-purpose flour 312.5g
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded, medium
  • ¼ cup chives finely chopped, fresh
  • 2 cups buttermilk 490g
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Spray a 7x11-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder to a medium bowl. Use a whisk to sift ingredients.
  3. Fold in cheddar cheese and chives.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until mostly combined, being careful not to overwork the batter.
  5. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish. Place the dough on top of the butter and use a spatula (or your hands) to evenly spread the dough out to the edges of the pan.
  6. Cut the unbaked dough into 8 squares. Bake for 26-28 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  7. When done, remove the biscuits from the oven. Allow the butter to be absorbed into the biscuits before serving.
