Chocolate Cherry Almond Smoothie

This Chocolate Cherry Almond Smoothie combines frozen sweet cherries, plant milk, banana or avocado for creaminess, and cacao powder with almond butter and almond extract for depth. It's a rich, fruit-forward, and creamy beverage with chocolate and nutty notes. The smoothie offers a nutrient-rich option for breakfast or a snack featuring natural sweetness and balanced flavor.

Description

The smoothie blends plant milk with sweet frozen cherries and a banana or avocado, providing natural creaminess and sweetness. Cacao powder adds chocolate flavor, further complemented by almond butter’s nutty richness and almond extract’s aroma. The ingredients are blended until smooth, producing a thick, vibrant smoothie.

This combination results in a textured drink that balances fruity tartness with chocolate and almond flavors. Optional toppings like cacao nibs, fresh cherries, or coconut whipped cream can enhance texture and presentation.

Sweetness can be tailored by adding small amounts of maple syrup, agave, or dates. Additional boosts such as spinach, protein powder, vanilla, or chia seeds can customize the smoothie for dietary or flavor preferences. Using frozen banana intensifies creaminess.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3/4 cup plant milk
  • 3/4 cup Cherry sweet, frozen, pitted
  • 1 banana or 1/2 avocado or vegan yogurt, small ripe
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cacao powder
  • 1-2 Tbsp. almond butter (optional, but recommended)
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract (or up to 1/2 tsp.)

Toppings (optional):

  • Coconut whipped cream fresh
  • cacao nibs
  • Cherry

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth, about 15-20 seconds.
  2. Taste and adjust flavors if desired. (See notes for suggestions.)

Notes

  • Sweeten the smoothie by adding 1-2 teaspoons of pure maple syrup, a diced pitted date, or agave syrup if desired.
  • For added nutrition and flavor, try including spinach or other greens, protein powder, vanilla extract, or chia seeds.
  • Using frozen banana instead of fresh will create a creamier texture in the smoothie.
