Chocolate Chip Banana Bread with Walnuts
Description
This Banana Bread recipe incorporates mashed ripe bananas into a creamed mixture of softened butter and sugar. Eggs and vanilla extract enrich the flavor and structure. Flour, baking soda, and salt combine to form the dry ingredients, added to the wet mixture along with milk (or yogurt) gently to preserve moisture. Semi-sweet chocolate chips and toasted walnuts are folded into the batter to provide sweet bursts and crunchy texture throughout the loaf.
The batter is poured into a loaf pan lined with parchment or sprayed to prevent sticking. Additional walnuts and chocolate chips are sprinkled on top before baking, creating a golden brown crust with contrasting crunch on the surface. The bread is baked until firm and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean, ensuring a fully cooked but moist interior.
Serving this bread works well for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, pairing with coffee, tea, or milk. The nuts add a subtle toastiness complementing the chocolate and banana flavor blend.
Walnut pieces can be substituted with other preferred nuts as noted, allowing ingredient flexibility without changing the base texture or sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1 tick unsalted butter softened
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 egg large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3-4 bananas very ripe, mashed
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 cup whole milk or yogurt
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 1/2 cup walnut toasted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or spray with nonstick baking spray, set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mash the bananas together using a fork. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together with a hand mixer until light and fluffy. (This will take a few minutes.)
- Crack in the eggs. Measure in the vanilla extract. Beat until combined.
- Add the mashed bananas and beat to combine.
- Next, measure in the all-purpose flour, baking soda and salt.
- Pour in the milk, and stir gently to combine.
- Add in most of the walnuts and chocolate chips, and stir to combine.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle with the remaining walnuts and chocolate chips on top of the batter. You can also sprinkle on some coarse salt on top, too.
- Bake for 55 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through! Test the doneness with a butter knife or skewer inserted into the center of the bread. If it comes out clean, the bread is done.
- Let the bread cool slightly before slicing, and enjoy!
Bom Apetite!
Notes
- You can substitute walnuts with other favorite nuts if preferred without affecting the bread's texture and flavor significantly.
