Chocolate Chip S'mores Skillet Cookie

This skillet cookie blends a buttery chocolate chip batter with classic s'mores components like graham crackers, chocolate bars, and mini marshmallows. Baked in a buttered cast iron skillet, the cookie develops a lightly browned base topped with melted chocolate, crunchy graham pieces, and toasted marshmallows, offering a mix of soft, chewy, and crisp textures reminiscent of traditional s'mores.

Description

Chocolate Chip S'mores Skillet Cookie starts with a creamed butter and sugar base, combined with a mix of all-purpose and white whole wheat flours, baking soda, and salt. Chocolate chips and mini marshmallows fold into the dough, which is pressed into a greased cast iron skillet. After an initial bake, it’s topped with broken graham crackers, chocolate bars, and more marshmallows, then briefly broiled to toast the marshmallows.

The baking creates a cookie with a soft, chewy interior and slightly crisp edges. The s'mores topping adds contrasting textures and layers of chocolate melt, marshmallow toastiness, and granulated crunch. Flavorwise, it balances buttery sweetness with chocolate richness and the characteristic graham cracker taste.

This dessert suits sharing directly from the skillet, especially warm when marshmallows are gooey. It can be served casually after baking and broiling. Substituting all-purpose flour for the whole wheat is an option for a more traditional cookie crumb.
