Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder.
- Using a funnel, add the flour mixture to the bottom of the jar.
- Carefully place Christmas M&M’s on top of flour mixture. Using a spoon helps gently place M&M’s on top of the flour so they do not sink into the flour.
- Next add brown sugar on top of M&M’s, then top with white sugar.
- Place Christmas fabric or any kind of material you want to use on top of the jar and seal with the jar’s metal lid and decorate with ribbon.
Notes
- on card stock, cut and attach around the jar using a ribbon.
- Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted1 large egg1 teaspoon vanilla extractCookies in a Jar ingredients
- Instructions:
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to cooling to finish cooling.
- Notes:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- In a large bowl, mix together unsalted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together until well combined.
- Carefully fold in ingredients from Cookies in a Jar and mix until just combined. Be careful when mixing together to not crush M&M’s. The colors will bleed some into the dough.
- Chill dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour before baking.
- Using a cookie scoop, scoop out about 1 ½ tablespoons of dough and roll to make dough balls. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake cookies for 7-9 minutes or until the edges of the cookie are set.
- I found it is best to cut fabric to a 7-inch circle for sealing the jars, this gives it some room to give the jar some decoration. This will also help cover up the small space at the top of the jar that is empty.
- You can substitute the Christmas M&M’s with chocolate chips, or regular M&M’s.
- These are great to make for any holiday, just substitute for the color of M&M’s to match the holiday.
- If you do not wish to add the egg, substitute it with ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Cookie mix will last up to 3 months in a sealed jar.
