Cinnamon Mocha
Description
The recipe starts by making a chocolate syrup from cocoa powder, cinnamon, maple syrup, and cold water, stirred together to integrate flavors and dissolve cocoa. Cashew milk is gently heated over simmering heat to avoid scalding and to warm through. Brewed coffee is prepared separately and then divided into mugs. The warmed cashew milk is poured over the coffee and syrup mixture, blending the components to produce a moody, spiced mocha drink.
The cinnamon adds warmth and spice that complements the chocolate cocoa and the subtle nutty flavor of cashew milk. Using maple syrup as the sweetener brings a mild, natural sweetness different from refined sugar. The drink can be served as is or topped with whipped cream if desired, though this is optional.
Substitutions suggested in notes include using store-bought chocolate syrup instead of the homemade version, or swapping cinnamon for ground ginger or a mix of both for different spice profiles. This flexibility allows for personal taste adjustments.
