Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apple Slices

Thinly sliced Granny Smith apples are coated with a cinnamon-sugar mixture and baked until tender with scattered pats of butter. The sweet and spicy coating contrasts the tart apples, resulting in warm, soft slices with a slightly crisp top. This simple baked apple dish works well as a dessert or side to breakfast and complements cinnamon-flavored dishes.

Description

Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apple Slices start by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples thinly to ensure even cooking. The slices are tossed in a blend of brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, and salt, which evenly coats the fruit and creates a caramelized surface when baked. The apples are arranged in layers in a greased baking dish, slightly overlapping, allowing the sugar to melt and seep between slices.

Pats of butter distributed on top melt during baking, enriching the flavor and adding moistness. Baking at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes softens the apples while maintaining their shape. The cinnamon and sugar mixture infuses the slices with a warm sweetness balanced by the apples’ tartness.

This dish can accompany breakfast items or be served as a simple dessert. The texture is tender yet maintains a subtle bite, and the brown sugar adds depth along with the white sugar’s bright sweetness.
