Description
This condensed milk iced coffee starts by brewing double or triple-strength coffee using filter or instant coffee, cooled in the fridge to chill thoroughly before serving. Meanwhile, ice cubes are crushed slightly to chill the drink without overly diluting it. Sweetened condensed milk is stirred into the cooled coffee, adding rich sweetness and creaminess without the need for additional dairy.
The drink is served over plentiful ice in a tall glass with a straw and spoon for stirring to keep flavors well mixed. The strong, hot brew chilled before serving ensures the coffee flavor remains prominent despite dilution from ice and condensed milk.
Adjust the brewed coffee’s strength and condensed milk quantity to achieve a preferred balance of bold coffee flavor and sweetness. The recipe’s simple components allow it to be made quickly with minimal equipment, producing a pleasant iced coffee suitable for hot weather or a treat.
Ingredients
- 300 millilitre coffee filter or instant. Make it triple-strenth if you like your coffee strong, double-strength brewed
- 1 handful ice cubes adjust quantity according to taste
- 4-6 tablespoons condensed milk adjust to taste
Instructions
- Start by brewing your double (or triple strength) coffee with hot water and putting it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to cool down.
- Meanwhile, remove the ice from the ice cube tray and bash the cubes slightly smaller in a plastic bag or in a folded kitchen towel using a rolling pin. If you are not yet ready for serving, place the bashed ice back in the freezer until needed.
- Add the condensed milk to the cooled black coffee and stir through.
- Fill the rest of the glass up with lots of ice and serve with a straw and a tall spoon for stirring.
