Cream Cheese Frosting

Add Cream Cheese Frosting to your desserts to make them twice as delicious. Soft and fluffy, this recipe is all you need to upscale your cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter 1 stick, softened
  • 8 ounce cream cheese brick-style, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar up to 2, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Beat butter with mixer until smooth, then beat in cream cheese.  Make sure this is very smooth. 
  2. Slowly blend in 2 cups of powdered sugar, then add vanilla.  Beat until just fluffy—beating too long can result in an overly soft frosting.  Taste and add additional powdered sugar if you'd like it sweeter.   
  3. Store in refrigerator until needed.  If needed, let warm at room temperature briefly before using.     
  4. Frosts 12 cupcakes with a medium height dome.
