Crock Pot Wassail
Description
The Crock Pot Wassail combines apple cider, orange juice, and lemon juice as a fruity base, infused with whole cinnamon sticks and cloves plus ground ginger and nutmeg. Cooking these ingredients slowly in a crock pot for several hours allows the flavors to meld and develop a warm, spiced character. The addition of sliced fresh apples and oranges near the end adds a light fruitiness and mild texture contrast.
The fragrance and taste are both warmly spiced and citrusy, with natural sweetness from the cider and orange juice. The slow cooking method brings out the aromatic qualities from the spices without any need for additional sweeteners. The drink is served warm, perfect for sipping during winter or holiday events.
This wassail works well as an alcohol-free punch or base for spiked holiday drinks. It can be ladled into mugs to keep guests cozy and relaxed. The fresh fruit slices also add visual appeal and mild contrasting flavors.
