  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ pound Italian sausage mild
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced (about 1 cup
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 ribs celery diced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups long-grain white rice uncooked, 370 g
  • 4 cups beef broth 32 ounces / 960 g
  • parsley chopped for garnish, fresh

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, brown ground beef and Italian sausage until the meat is no longer pink and fully cooked (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add onions, green pepper, and celery. Cook until softened (4-5 minutes). Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Stir in Cajun seasoning, kosher salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Add uncooked rice and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until rice is cooked through.
  6. Remove from heat. Allow the rice to rest for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
