Easy Homemade Flatbread
Description
This flatbread recipe relies on self-raising flour and baking powder combined with natural yogurt to form a quick dough without yeast. The dough is mixed until just combined and kneaded lightly to develop structure, then separated into equal portions for consistent sizes. Rolling out each piece into roughly 8-inch circles allows for even cooking.
Cooking occurs in a hot, dry pan without oil, where each flatbread cooks for about 2 minutes per side until golden spots appear. The result is a soft flatbread with a tender crumb and slight chewiness, well suited to scoop up curries or dips. Variations include adding fresh herbs like parsley or coriander, garlic granules for flavor, or brushing with butter prior to cooking to enhance richness.
The flatbreads are best served fresh but can be stored in airtight containers and reheated briefly under a grill. The dough freezes well in portioned balls, making it convenient for future use. Ensuring equal dough sizes helps produce uniformly cooked breads.
