Easy No-Yeast Flatbread
Description
The Easy No-Yeast Flatbread relies on a simple dough of all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and warm water mixed to a lumpy consistency then kneaded until smooth. A brief resting period allows the flour to hydrate, resulting in dough that is easier to roll out into thin circles. Cooking on a hot nonstick pan over medium heat produces flatbreads with bubbling and golden brown spots on both sides, signalling even cooking.
The finished bread is soft but sturdy enough to hold fillings or be served alongside dips and spreads. Wrapping the flatbreads in a kitchen towel after cooking keeps them warm and preserves their softness.
Key tips include controlling the heat to avoid burning while ensuring thorough cooking, watching for bubbles that indicate readiness to flip, and gentle handling when flipping to prevent tearing the thin bread. Leftovers can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container and reheated gently before serving.
