Fig Milkshake (Anjeer Shake)
Description
Fig Milkshake uses fresh, ripe figs combined with cold milk and sugar, optionally enhanced with a small amount of vanilla bean or extract. The figs are first blended with a smaller portion of milk and sugar to form a smooth base, then more milk is added and blended again to achieve a creamy, drinkable consistency.
The result is a sweet, smooth milkshake with the distinctive flavor of figs, which carry a natural sweetness and a mildly earthy tone. The shake's texture is creamy with fine fig particles blended in, giving it a pleasant body without graininess.
It is intended to be consumed immediately after preparation to avoid developing a bitter taste, and storing or refrigerating it is not recommended. This shake works well as a refreshing drink or a light, natural dessert option, especially when fresh figs are in season.
Ingredients
- 150 grams figs or 5 to 6 fresh figs
- 2 cups milk cold
- 3 to 4 tablespoons sugar or add as required
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean or ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract, scraped seeds
Instructions
- In a blender jar, take chopped figs (about 5 to 6 figs or 150 grams fresh figs) along with ½ cup chilled milk, 3 to 4 tbsp sugar and ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract or ¼ teaspoon scraped vanilla bean seeds. Vanilla is optional and you can skip it.
- Blend till smooth.
- Then add the remaining 1.5 cups of cold milk. Blend once more.
- Pour in glasses and serve figs milkshake immediately.
- Remember to serve the milkshake as soon as you make it. Keeping or resting the milkshake for a few minutes may make it taste bitter. Also do not refrigerate as even refrigeration may make the taste bitter.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe figs with bruised or torn skin for best sweetness and flavor.
- Sugar can be adjusted or substituted with preferred sweeteners based on taste.
- Consume the milkshake immediately after blending to prevent bitterness; do not refrigerate or let it rest.
