Ingredients
- 2 Pineapples peeled
- ¼ watermelon
- 2-3 kiwi cut in cubes
- 2 mandarin peeled and separated segments
- 7 ounces (200g) strawberries
- 7 ounces (200g) blackberries
- 7 ounces (200g) raspberries
- rosemary sprigs
Instructions
- Cut off the tops and bottoms of each pineapple and peel. Cut off one slice and use a knife or cookie cutter to make the star for the top of the tree. Set the star aside.
- Cut a piece of watermelon into a triangle to create the top of the tree. Then cut the remaining watermelon into large cubes for the tree arrangement.
- Assemble the tree by placing one pineapple on top of each other and fix it with a skewer in the middle to hold in place.
- Add the watermelon on top of the pineapple stack.
- Add toothpicks around the pineapples and the watermelon. Cut the head of the strawberries and start arranging around them. Add kiwi, then Mandarin.
- Keep building with the berries. Add more toothpicks if needed. Be careful with the small berries as they will break easily. Place them gently on the tree.
- Transfer tree on a plate. Arrange rosemary around it.
- Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
- Choose a variety of fruits in different colors and sizes. Aim for a balance between sweet, tart, and refreshing flavors.
- Opt for the freshest fruits available to ensure the best taste and texture. Seasonal fruits often have more vibrant colors and flavors.
- If using fruits like apples or pears that can brown when exposed to air, lightly brush them with lemon juice to maintain their freshness and color.
- Take your time when slicing and preparing the fruits. Uniformity in size and shape makes for a more visually appealing tree.
- Ensure the base fruits (e.g., pineapples or watermelon) are stable and secure on the platter to support the weight of the tree.
- Start with the larger fruits at the bottom and work your way up with smaller fruits. This layering creates the classic Christmas tree shape.
- If using toothpicks or skewers to secure the fruits, hide them beneath the fruit to maintain a clean and polished appearance.
