Instructions

Make the Cinnamon-Infused Simple Syrup

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, measure out the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat.
  2. Add in the cinnamon sticks, and cover for 30 minutes to three hours. (The longer the simple syrup infuses, the more cinnamon-y it will become. Proceed with caution.)
  3. When the syrup has finished infusing (and tastes good to you!), strain and pour into a mason jar. Refrigerate until time to make cocktails.

Make the Cocktail(s)

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Run a lemon wedge over the rim of the glass(es) you plan on using, then dip the glass(es) into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Set the glasses aside.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine your favorite gin, apple cider and the cinnamon-infused simple syrup.
  5. Add ice, then shake vigorously until combined.
  6. Pour over large ice cubes, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Please note that the total time INCLUDES the shortest infusion time for the cinnamon-infused simple syrup. If you want a more cinnamon-y simple syrup, please allot the proper amount of time for that spice to infuse. I suggest making the simple syrup a day before the event.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled and mixed together quite easily. Just make sure not to overfill your cocktail shaker as you mix ‘em up.
