Green Chile Cheeseburger

Top this juicy Green Chile Cheeseburger with a tasty green chile sauce and then pile it high with your favorite burger fixings.

Ingredients

Servings

for the patties-

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1/4 cup grated sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • salt
  • pepper

for the sauce-

  • 1 small can diced green chiles use the mild unless you like the spice
  • 1/2 cup Green enchilada sauce use a good one- I used Les Palmas brand
  • 4 thick slices Monterey Jack cheese or any other kind you like
  • 4 hamburger buns

any other desired hamburger toppings:

  • tomatoes
  • onions
  • lettuce etc.

Instructions

  1. Preheat outdoor grill to medium high.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together for the burger patties. Divide into 4 even balls and form into patties with a slight depression in the middle for even cooking time. Grill burgers about 5 minutes per side or until done to your liking. Once you flip your patties once, top with a slice of cheese and cover to melt. Toast buns in the last two minutes of cooking, if desired. Remove everything from grill.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together green chiles and enchilada sauce. Microwave to warm and set aside.
  4. Build burger by topping cheeseburger with lots of green chile sauce and any other desired toppings.
