Guava Mojito
Description
The Guava Mojito is a variation on the classic mojito cocktail that swaps in guava nectar for additional tropical sweetness and flavor. It is made by mixing white rum with freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup, which provides balance and sweetness. Instead of muddling, mint leaves are gently rubbed and squeezed to release their aromatic oils without bitterness, then stirred into the mixture. The cocktail is divided into servings poured into highball glasses over crushed ice.
Guava nectar is then poured into the glasses along with more crushed ice to chill the drink thoroughly. Optionally, a splash of club soda can be added on top for effervescence and a lighter finish. The cocktail is garnished with fresh mint to reinforce its herbal aroma. The resulting drink offers a blend of citrus brightness, sweet guava fruitiness, and cooling mint flavors with the smooth warmth of rum.
This mojito variant suits warm weather occasions or casual gatherings, enjoyed as a refreshing and fruity cocktail that remains balanced without overpowering sweetness or alcohol burn.
Ingredients
- 5 ounces white rum
- 2 ounces lime juice freshly squeezed
- 1/2 cup guava nectar
- 2 tablespoons simple syrup
- 2 full mint 20-30 leaves for the drink, the rest for topping, bunches, fresh
- 2-3 cups ice crushed
- a plash club soda optional for topping at the end
Instructions
- In a large cocktail glass, mix in the lime juice, rum and simple syrup.
- Next, separate about 20 to 30 mint leaves from the bunch of mint and gently rub them between your hands to release the mint's oils. You may gently squeeze or break the leaves gently with your fingers, as well. Do not muddle the mint because it could yield a bitter end result.
- Add the mint leaves to the cocktail cup and stir gently.
- Pour equal amounts of mixture into two highball glasses, including the leaves. Use your spoon to make sure you have an even amount of mint leaves in each cup, as well.
- Then fill the glasses about halfway to 3/4 of the way with crushed ice.
- Pour the guava nectar into both glasses and top with more crushed ice all the way to the top. If desired, top with a little club soda or extra guava nectar.
- Split the rest of the mint into 2 bunches and agitate it with your hands, similar to what you did earlier, to release the oils.
- Place each bunch into each glass as garnish and serve with a straw!
