Hojicha Hot Chocolate
Description
Hojicha Hot Chocolate is a warm beverage featuring chopped milk or dark chocolate melted into heated milk infused with hojicha powder, a roasted green tea powder. The chocolate is initially melted in a small portion of hot milk, creating a base that is then frothed with the hojicha powder to incorporate the tea's distinctive roasted aroma and flavor. The remainder of the milk is warmed and stirred in to make a smooth, creamy drink. The result is a rich and comforting hot chocolate with an earthy, roasted tea flavor layered beneath the sweetness. Served optionally with whipped cream and marshmallows, this drink is an inviting combination of two classic flavors, offering a new dimension to traditional hot chocolate.
The preparation can be done quickly using a microwave by melting chocolate and heating milk in stages, whisking the hojicha powder for frothiness. Alternatively, the stovetop method heats milk gently before combining it with the chocolate and hojicha. Sweetener is optional, allowing customization of sweetness level. The choice between milk types or dairy alternatives can accommodate personal preferences. This versatile hot chocolate suits moments when a warming drink with a subtle tea twist is desired.
