Holiday Sangria
Description
The "Holiday Sangria" recipe calls for mixing Moscato wine with diet cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, orange juice, and simple syrup to balance sweetness. Sliced fresh fruits including apples, oranges, lemons, pears, along with whole cranberries and pomegranate seeds, are added for texture and festive color.
The sangria is chilled for at least four hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld. Before serving, champagne is floated on top and ice is added to glasses, providing effervescence and refreshing chill. Fruit pieces are served using tongs for convenience.
Simple syrup is prepared in advance by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over medium heat and cooling. This sangria blends tart and sweet fruit notes with sparkling wine for a celebratory drink suited to holiday gatherings and warm-weather parties.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle 750ml Moscato Wine
- 2 cups cranberry juice diet
- 1 cup pomegranate juice from POM Wonderful
- ½ cup orange juice
- 3 ounces simple syrup
- 1 apple unpeeled, cored, quartered & sliced thin (I used Honey Crisp)
- 1 orange halved, sliced thin
- 1 lemon halved and sliced thin
- 1 pear halved and sliced thin, red bartlett
- ½ cup cranberries fresh
- ¼ cup pomegranate seeds
- champagne
- ice for serving
Instructions
- Mix all of the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir well.
- Chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Stir before serving.
- Pour into glasses leaving a room at the top. Float champagne on top of the punch.
- Use a pair of tongs to extract some of the fruit for each glass.
Notes
- Simple syrup is made by heating equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, then cooled and stored airtight.
