Homemade Bleach Pen
Description
The Homemade Bleach Pen recipe starts by mixing cold water with cornstarch to avoid lumps, then cooking the mixture over medium-high heat until it becomes a thick paste. After cooling, regular strength bleach is blended into the paste, forming a bleach gel. This gel can be dispensed from containers with a narrow nozzle for precise stain treatment.
The gel's consistency helps prevent bleach from spreading widely, allowing safer and more targeted application compared to liquid bleach. It is important to handle with gloves and protective clothing to avoid skin contact or damage to fabrics not meant to be bleached.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water cold
- 5 tbsp cornstarch
- 5 tbsp regular bleach
Instructions
- Mix cold water and cornstarch together in a medium sized saucepan. It’s important that the water is cold so that the cornstarch doesn’t cause any lumps in the gel. Over medium high heat, stir the mixture continuously until it is very thick and pasty. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Add the bleach to the gel and blend well. Carefully pour the gel mixture into container of choice. I have a bunch of these clear condiment bottles from Walmart that work great. An empty glue bottle would be even better if you need the nozzle to be a tad smaller.
Notes
- Wear gloves and protective clothing when handling bleach gel to avoid skin contact and accidental splashes.
- Use regular strength bleach; adjust quantities if using stronger formulations.
- Store the bleach pen gel in a suitable container with a nozzle for controlled application.
