Homemade Hot Chocolate

Homemade Hot Chocolate combines cocoa powder, semi-sweet chocolate, sugar, salt, milk, half and half, and vanilla extract to create a rich, smooth beverage. The mix of cocoa and melted chocolate provides depth, while the dairy balance ensures creamy warmth. This hot drink is customizable in sweetness and ideal for cozy moments.

Description

The Homemade Hot Chocolate recipe uses unsweetened cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate melted together with sugar and a pinch of salt, providing a nuanced chocolate flavor. Combining milk and half and half contributes to a creamy texture that balances richness and lightness.

The mixture is gently heated while whisking until smooth and steaming, not boiling, to maintain a velvety consistency. Vanilla extract added at the end enhances the beverage's aroma and rounds out the flavor. Adjusting the sugar or chocolate content allows for personal preference in sweetness and intensity.

This hot chocolate serves well on colder days or as a comforting treat, and toppings like whipped cream or marshmallows can be added as desired. Its straightforward preparation makes it easily scalable for any serving size.
