Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix
Description
The Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix combines equal parts fresh lemon juice and lime juice with granulated sugar and water. Gently heating the ingredients until the sugar dissolves creates a sweet yet tart syrup without the gritty texture of undissolved sugar. Cooling and refrigerating the mix preserves its bright citrus flavor and extends its shelf life.
This mix is a fundamental component for various cocktails, providing a reliable and fresh-tasting sour element that can be adjusted by altering the lemon-to-lime ratio or sweetness according to taste preferences.
Ingredients
- 1 cup lemon juice about 4-6 lemons, freshly squeezed
- 1 cup lime juice about 8-10 limes, freshly squeezed

- 1 cup water
Instructions
- combine all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat
- stir until all the sugar is dissolved
