Honey Buffalo Wings with Homemade Ranch

Honey Buffalo Wings with Homemade Ranch blend spicy hot sauce, sweet honey, and savory tomato into glazed, oven-baked chicken wings. Baking with a light coating of baking powder produces a crispy skin without frying. The wings are tossed in a simmered honey-buffalo sauce before finishing in the oven for a glossy coating. The accompanying creamy ranch dipping sauce is made fresh with sour cream, buttermilk, and fresh herbs.

Description

This recipe starts by drying chicken wings and coating them with salt, pepper, and baking powder to achieve crispness when baked in the oven at 425º F. After an initial baking, the wings are coated with a homemade sauce consisting of tomato sauce, hot sauce, honey, butter, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, which simmers to slightly thicken. The sauced wings are returned to the oven briefly to set a shiny, sticky glaze.

The ranch sauce uses sour cream, buttermilk, mayonnaise, fresh chives, dill, and onion and garlic powder. This fresh dressing complements the sweet-spicy wings and adds a creamy herbal contrast. Serving the wings immediately keeps the skin crisp and sauce flavorful.

This dish suits a casual gathering, appetizer, or game-day snack where wings coated in a balanced honey-hot sauce alongside a cool ranch dip are appreciated. Baking wings with baking powder offers an easier cleanup and a less greasy alternative to frying, while still producing a satisfying crisp.
