Honey Roasted Chickpeas
Description
This recipe creates a crunchy snack by starting with thoroughly dried canned garbanzo beans. Baking them spread out prevents steaming and ensures crispness. The initial bake at 375°F for 45 to 50 minutes dries and crisps the chickpeas evenly. After cooling slightly, a glaze made from olive oil, honey, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt coats the chickpeas to add sweetness, spice, and seasoning.
The chickpeas return to the oven for about 10 minutes, allowing the honey mixture to caramelize and form a shiny, sticky coating. Cooling completely is essential for the final crunch and handling ease. The chickpeas make a textured snack with a balance of natural sweetness and warm cinnamon spice.
This honey roasted version provides a satisfying alternative to savory roasted chickpeas and can be served as a snack or crunchy topping for salads and desserts.
