Ingredients

  • 15 oz chickpeas canned
  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2-3 tablespoons water if needed
  • 6 basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas in a colander. Peel and remove the soul of the garlic.
  2. In a food processor or blender, add the chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, basil, water, black pepper and salt.
  3. Blend the ingredients until smooth, stopping to scrape the sides down as needed.
  4. If you prefer a creamier hummus, you can add more water.
  5. Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  6. Transfer the hummus to a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, garnish with basil and a sprinkle of black pepper.
