Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls
Description
The recipe starts by rolling crescent dough over a baking sheet. A filling composed of softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, finely chopped deseeded jalapeños, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and shredded mozzarella is prepared and spooned onto each dough crescent's wide end.
Each crescent is carefully rolled to encase the filling, ensuring edges are sealed to prevent leakage during baking. The rolls are baked at 375°F until the dough is just golden, yielding a tender and slightly flaky exterior while the filling turns melty and mildly spicy.
They are allowed to cool briefly due to hot filling, then served as finger food. The combination of creamy, cheesy filling with a mild jalapeño kick balances well with the buttery dough. Adding cooked crumbled bacon is a common variation to enhance savory flavor.
Ingredients
- 16 crescent rolls count tubes
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 Tbsp sour cream
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 3-4 jalapeños seeds removed, finely chopped
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ black pepper
- ¾ cup mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F. Roll out your crescent roll dough onto a parchment paper (or silicone mat) lined cookie sheet. Set aside.
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine remaining ingredients and stir well, until completely combined.
- Drop filling by rounded 2-3 teaspoons onto the center of the widest part of each crescent roll.
- Roll into crescents by rolling the widest end into the smallest. As you roll, gently press the sides together to form a seam or tuck in the corners so that the filling while not run out while baking.
- Bake on 375F for 11-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
- Allow to cool several minutes before enjoying -- filling will be very hot!
Notes
- For extra savory flavor, mix in ½ cup cooked, crumbled bacon into the filling.
- Handle the crescent dough gently to maintain its flaky texture while rolling around the filling.
- Allow rolls to cool slightly after baking as the filling will be very hot inside.
