Late Harvest Sangria

With warm notes from citrus & cloves, plus a fall fruitiness from pears & apple brandy, this Late Harvest Sangria is perfect for the holidays or all winter.

Ingredients

Clove simple syrup

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tablespoon clove whole
  • 5-6 mandarin orange peel ribbons

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 bottle tempranillo wine 750 ml
  • 1/2 cup apple brandy
  • 1 cup apple cider or pear cider
  • 4 pear diced and divided
  • 4 mandarin orange sliced (use some of the peel above
  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 7 rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. To make clove syrup bring water and sugar to a boil. Take off the heat, then add cloves and orange peel. Let steep until cool.
  2. Mix Temparillo, brandy, clove syrup and juice in a large pitcher. Add a couple handfuls of ice, half of the fruit and one sprig of rosemary (optional). Stir to combine.
  3. Divide the remaining fruit among 6 glasses, add a few ice cubes and place an orange slice on the rim. Top with wine and add a sprig of rosemary if using.
  4. Serve immediately.
