Limonada
Description
This recipe uses freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice, combined with simple syrup—a pre-made sugar syrup that dissolves easily in cold liquids—and cold water to produce a lightly sweetened, tangy beverage. The use of simple syrup avoids the gritty texture sometimes caused by granulated sugar in chilled drinks. The mixture is stirred in a pitcher and served over ice, providing a crisp, thirst-quenching drink.
Limonada is a common traditional refreshment and can be adjusted for sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup. It lasts approximately seven days refrigerated, making it easy to prepare ahead and serve throughout the week.
The fresh citrus flavor and simple ingredients make this a basic yet satisfying homemade lemonade or limeade, dependent on your chosen fruit.
