Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat & Prep – Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Beef – In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess grease. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Step 3: Layer the Casserole – Spread half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then top with half of the beef mixture. Repeat layers.
  4. Step 4: Mix & Pour Sauce – In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour over the casserole, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Step 5: Bake & Add Cheese – Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese and smoked paprika on top, and bake uncovered for 5 more minutes until melted.
  6. Step 6: Serve & Enjoy – Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with melted butter for extra richness.
